Brandi LaPointe
Zoning out, clearing her mind of clutter, Brandi would sit and mindfully place each dot on the canvas. In the midst of chaos being a college student would bring, Brandi initially found a certain peace in her mandala paintings in 2013. Her practice that began out of seeming necessity blossomed into something much more. Today, Brandi describes mandalas as meditative guides that carry you through spiritual development. The repeating patterns and sacred geometry depict a universe. This could be your own spiritual journey, life cycles, or most prominently the interconnectedness of all living things.
Throughout Brandi’s creative journey, she admits that inspiration and motivation have always come quite easily to her, particularly this past year. With the weight of a global pandemic on all of our shoulders, Brandi has accomplished one of the biggest feats. Keeping inner peace. Staying present. There is always a bit of societal aftershock in cases of crisis and collective trauma. In cases such as these, sometimes the hardest thing to do is turn inwards and make sure we are taking care of ourselves. For Brandi, not only has physical health become the utmost priority, but also mental health. Every day Brandi attempted to find herself in nature and dive deeper into fine tuning her craft. Soon, she began to make connections between the lines of nature she found herself surrounded by and those lines reflected back into her mandala paintings. One of the things she remarks as her biggest revelation yet.
