Suzi Spooner

“As an artist and human, I am optimistic and driven. Filled with an endless curiosity for what can be accomplished with my limited time. I am interested in maximizing joy and intentional choices rather than impulsivity.” Suzi spooner starts her journey with CREATEUR with a nothing other than powerful statement. Something we don’t see a lot of creatives prioritizing when they first come to us with their story. So much of Suzi’s creative journey revolves around balance. She can be planned, she can be precise, she can devise a routine. Though don’t be fooled by this seemingly regimented lifestyle. Suzi believes that this, what some may call a regimented lifestyle, brings her more freedom than she would have otherwise.

“As part of my personal philosophy, I limit my time on social media, I have gotten rid of my smartphone, I take long breaks while working, and I meditate and journal daily. As a result, I find myself more present, more creative, more productive, and less stressed.”

Suzi’s creativity comes from a curated mix of these personal disciplines and routines. It’s no surprise that when asked what her favorite creative tool was, she said her light phone (pag 00). What she describes as a “dumb phone” that has no internet browsing or time-wasting apps. Although it is not directly incorporated into her artmaking, it does free up her mind and her time to be more productive and more imaginative in her creative process. Adjacent to the idea of taking the reins on not only your well-being but your creative journey. Many would say those elements of life are one-in-the-same.
